The Romance Reverend's Soul Mate Tips

Can’t Hurry Love… It Will Happen In its Right Moment

I am so hungry for love that I can taste it. I’ve done all the spiritual work, the emotional work and the logistical work. I am ready for love. But love does not seem ready for me. Where have I gone wrong? How come I am still alone?
--Roslind, Wappingers Falls, NY

Dear Roslind,

Your time just has not yet come. It could be any day now; any hour. You may find love on the next corner you turn. Part of the package with truly soulful love is that it has it’s own schedule… it’s own rhyme and reason. Being alone at this moment in time does not equal failure, nor does it signal that love will never come. May I suggest you adjust your attitude and try to step into sync with the way your romantic universe is flowing… and see what happens!

Sometimes, before true love arrives, we are asked to just be present in our own lives so that we are completely awakened, aware and ready when true love comes. We are asked not to busy ourselves with ‘searching" and not to engage in things that are distracting, but to live our lives with joy and go with the flow. On some occasions, the one who we are meant to love is not yet ready… has not done all that must be done in order for you two to be together. But this could all change very quickly. When your time comes, it will all change in an instant – which is why it is so important for soulful lovers to do the kind of healing work you have been doing – on all levels.

Consider that everything you have done up until this moment has been preparing you for soulful love. Every relationship that didn’t work, and every heartbreak you’ve known or felt responsible for, is part of the building blocks toward true love. Rather than worrying about the relationship that has yet to come, or harboring any regrets over romances past, congratulate yourself for surviving love’s battlefield and for still being willing to open your heart! Allow yourself to trust that perhaps there is a greater plan for you; know that sometimes the greater plan take time.

This time of yearning for love is a powerful part of this journey. It allows you to stand in the vestibule of true love, and prepare yourself to walk through Love’s door. I always view these times of yearning and hunger as Spirit’s way of preparing us for love.

The Romance Reverend's Tips on How To Utilize and Honor Your Yearning To Be With Your Soul Mate.

If you are feeling lonely, filled with desire and longing to FINALLY MEET YOUR SOUL MATE, congratulations! You are in the exact right place. Don’t be afraid of these feelings; know that they are indicators that you are on the right path. One of the most important parts of the process of opening to a soul mate is that deep yearning you feel. It’s the hunger to be in the embrace of your beloved that gives you the feeling of loneliness. It brings up fears, sadness, questions, and self-inquiries that are designed to further illumine your path. Yearning -- and owning up to that feeling -- is what brings you closer, because it presses you to look deeper into yourself for answers rather than looking externally. It is important to:

* Use this period of yearning as a time for inner work and exploration. Try not to jump off into the external activities and "fillers" that distract you from doing the inner work that is getting you ready for your soul mate.

* Surrender to that "aching." It’s okay to ache for love. Don’t hide from it in drinking, over-eating, compulsive shopping, compulsive "doing," and running around looking for ways to stay busy.

* Try not to fill your dance card up with dates with people who you know are not right for you. Don’t date just for the sake of dating.

* Use this time sit back and just allow the energy of transformation to sweep through your life and heal those things that would be in the way of your love relationship with your soul mate.

* Own the conflicts and fears, because they will help you break through to a higher ground. It’s on the higher ground where your soul mate is also searching for you!

Reverend Laurie Sue Brockway is an author, teacher and contemporary clergy person who specializes in matters of the heart and soul. As an ordained interfaith minister and non-denominational wedding officiant, it is her honor to regularly marry couples in love. Prior to becoming a minister she enjoyed a successful and colorful 20 years in media as a widely published journalist, editor and author of eight books on relationships and romance—as well as being a noted spokesperson on those topics. She was editor-in-chief of two national magazines and several regional publications, and her articles have been published around the world and in many newspapers and national magazines, such as the NY Daily News, The Washington Post, Women’s News, New Woman, Ladies’ Home Journal and Child. She evolved years of specialized reporting in the field of male-female relationship dynamics into a more spiritual pursuit that led her to train to be an interfaith minister, and then establish her wedding ministry along with her popular relationship enhancement programs.

She continues to write on weddings, soul mates and enhancing relationships, as well as teach on those topics. She's on the faculty of The Seminar Center and MyPotential.com. and trains other ministers through World Light Fellowship. She is a graduate of the New Seminary and a member of The Association of Interfaith Ministers. Her wedding ministry is based in New York.
