Numerology and Spiritual Practice

The first requisite for success is the ability to apply your physical and mental energies to one problem incessantly without growing weary. ~Thomas Edison

This month we will talk about spiritual practice, personal rituals and numerology. Through rituals, spiritual practice, and the knowledge provided by numerology, you can begin or deepen your process of living soulfully.

You may wonder what a ritual is. A ritual can be anything that you do to help you relieve stress, feel better, or remain balanced. A ritual can be very simple and it can be part of your ordinary, everyday life. You may want to think of a ritual as a hobby or avocation that you enjoy. Playing tennis regularly could be your personal ritual. You can call the ritual a custom, practice, habit, regimen or routine. I personally like the term "practice." However, it doesn’t matter what you call it. What is important, is that your practice helps you to feel good and stay healthy. By itself, your practice will not be a cure-all, but it can help you lead a healthier life, as it can help you to bring more structure, stability, guidance and hope into your life.

All you really need is the right frame of mind, focus, and dedication. Numerology can provide some clues as to the best time to start developing a personal ritual or practice, as we all lead our lives in different cycles. Certain cycles may be ideal for a specific personal practice. Also, certain personalities may do better with different types of personal practice. If you are a person who cannot sit still, then a meditation ritual may not be a good idea. However, with dedication and focus you can be successful with any practice.

In numerology there are universal cycles and personal cycles. Each cycle represents particular influences, traits, characteristics or qualities. Universal cycles will have an influence on the general population. Personal cycles will only influence you. When you are in tune with your personal cycle, goals can be accomplished more easily. Cycles can last for years, months, days, or hours. What you look at depends on what, and how closely, you are interested in analyzing your life.

For our purposes, we will look at cycles of a year in length. The universal year lasts one calendar year, beginning in January and ends in December. Your personal year lasts from the day of your birthday, to the day before your birthday of the next year. Knowing these cycles allows you to do your work appropriately. Your unique, Personal Year Cycle, will offer you certain perspectives and opportunities. You don’t have to take advantage of the opportunities this period of time offers, but if you are a procrastinator you may have to wait a full nine years for a similar pattern to occur. This doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to carry out a particular task, rather there are "windows of opportunity", which make certain tasks easier. Numerology can help you find your "window of opportunity." Your practice can reinforce what it is that you are looking for in life. Perhaps what you are looking for is as simple as some quiet personal time, or maybe you are looking for better health, more money, a relationship, or something else. Numerology can help you to focus in on your goals that can be reinforced through the role of the practice.

Your personal cycle number will identify key issues of importance in your life at any one time. Perhaps you have already worked through these issues. If that is the case, then they will be familiar to you and your task should be easier. However, if you have not worked them out yet, then you may have a great deal of work to do. With the aid of a personal ritual, you can begin to work on these important issues and improve aspects of your life and personality. We all continue to learn and grow and just because you experienced a particular cycle before, does not mean that it will be harder, or more difficult, this time. After all, you are older and more experienced.

In a practical sense, utilizing both a personal practice and numerology can bring greater equilibrium into your life. Numerology can be used as a method of understanding your own deeper nature, while that deeper nature can help to illustrate personal practices that may be better for your personality, especially at certain times in your life. Just remember that you should look forward to, and enjoy, performing your personal practice. The practice doesn’t have to be a complex process. It can be a simple one. Through ritual, you can create a special time and space in your life for your overall well being.

Good luck on your journey into Numerology and Soulful Living.
